Survive this slasher experience

Murder House is a paid adventure game that combines 80s slasher films with 90s survival horror games. In this offering by Puppet Combo, you play as a part of a local news team investigating an urban legend in an abandoned house… until the legend comes to life and starts killing them one by one.

This game feels like Resident Evil 3 or Silent Hill 4: The Room from their original releases. The character designs, the environment, and even the gameplay all feel nostalgic to those who experienced the VHS thrillers or the polygonal video games of the past decades.

Relive the thrilling past

Murder House does a great job of recreating a game developed for fifth-generation gaming consoles - defined by its polygonal character figures and third-person fixed cinematic camera angles. Its controls are even mapped optimally for a controller, with keyboard users expected to be challenged as they get used to the default controls. This makes the game difficult for younger players who are not used to these designs and setups.

Also, this game is unapologetic in its consistency. There are no unlimited saves or autosaves in this game, you have a limited number of pencils used to save the game. This is similar to the Resident Evil franchise where you’re only allowed to save if you have an Ink Ribbon in your inventory. Should you die without saving, of course, all progress is lost.

The game has no extensive lore or massive world-building, yet it stays true to the 80s slasher films like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street. There’s little backstory, mostly revealed near the end, and a lot of gore, jump scares, and finishing moves by the supposed killer. As a video game narrative, it isn’t much; but as a tribute to those thriller films, it captures the essence perfectly.

In order to play the adventure game you need to purchase the'Crimes of Stickmen' by the developer called Big Fish Games. The developer offers you the ability to download and play the entire game for free. However, you are required to register your personal computer with the Big Fish Games website in order to access the Murder House on Steam achievement platform. After logging on to the Big Fish Games website, you can see the Murder House on Steam achievement area where you can view the different levels that are available on the platform. If you want to unlock the final level, you need to purchase the'Crimes of Stickmen' through the online Big Fish Games website.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
